Comments Hallo Don, and all ADLER owner`s `way down under`. I am very pleased to see the great progress on your site since we got in contact first with Rowan, Socrates and you by end of 1999. Go ahead in growing the contacts and links. Just today I have updated the ADLER Club Information (german part for the moment)but Australia is not listed in the international list, because there are no `Australien` club members joining the german club.
When can we expect the foundation (like the Dutch) of your own ADLER Club of Australia ? Anyhow, don`t bother about it. Wishing all of you lot`s of fun in the sun at a speed limit of 100 km/h, when we in Europe freeze our budd off while riding motorcycle in autum and winter here.

Michael

Comments Ihave a 250 engine which has early yamaha pistons and rods from memory with centre plug heads and did have two amal tt carbies that appeared to be non genuine amal(rough sand cast, no i.d)these carbs were alcohol jetted and engine had home made reed valves fitted inside long manifolds adapting to twin carbs. Exhausts look like factory type expansion chambers. I think engine was used in hill climbs. Not interested in selling but i could get more info if anyone needs it.

Comments Hi there `Down under` !
You've built a really great site !
Me and my father are currently restoring a MB250 and we are desperatly searching for a tool box cover (the thing with the lock in it)
I know it's crazy for us germans to ask for it in Australia, but you never know until you tried !

Comments Dear Don,
Found the Adler website through my daughters. I own a complete original Adler MB 250 1954, I brought it in 1991 from a Mr Colin Seeley, who for those who may not be old enough to know, was world side car champion in the early 50`s. He brought it at a auction a few months earlier just because he liked the style and shape of it, also he remembered friends racing them in the 50`s. The Adler was featured in an article called `Authentic and Unrestored` in `Classic Motorcycle` in February 1996. Through my interest in German motorcycles, and Adler in particular, I have put together a Adler register here in the UK. At the moment I have 12 MB 250`s (including the first one to be imported into this country, which was a private purchase from the Frankfurt factory in 1954), 6 MB 250 favorit, 1 M 200, 1 MB 201. Also a person who owns about 12 various machines but none are on the register. Well that`s the Adler situation in the UK. Finally could I suggest, if possible, that frame and engine numbers could be shown so that it could be possible to find the oldest and youngest Adler`s around, also I have a list of Adler`s in a European register, would you Adler owner`s in Aussie land like to know about it, if so let me know.
Safe riding,
Bernie.

Comments I have an MB200 engine and I cant get the big gearwheel off the gearbox shaft. I have tried a 10 Tonne hydraulic puller without effect. Any ideas anyone? Also I cant make out how the `hydraulic` dampers in the plunger suspension work. Are they supposed to be lubricated in some way? Also, the book recommends oil for lubricating the plungers, but it leaks out very quickly. I have stripped two sets of plungers recently and they had both been packed with grease.

CommentsMB250 complete, outstanding condition. previously brought to the US from europe by a man from San Diego, California. it was fitted with a beautiful Royal sidecar. the man from San Diego sold it to a friend of mine from San Diego, who sold the sidecar separate from the MB250, he then sold the motorcycle to me. I brought it with me when I moved back to Michigan. It is finished in black with gold pin stripes. When I get some photos scanned, I`ll submit them for your viewing pleasure. any comments or questions, contact me through my email address. thanks for the great website. RR

CommentsI was completely surprised to find an Adler-club down under. I had several Adlers in the seventies (MB 250 single carburettor tuned up to 25 HP, MB 250 own construction twin carburettors 30 HP) The Picture on yr photo side of twin carburettors telescopic fork in racing trim shows a construction of Heinz Odoerfer of Nuremberg/Germany of the seventees. He was the last guy in Germany professionally restoring and developing Adlers (production of own motor parts and special crankshafts with high performane bearings. I wish I would have kept that bike. Bike was sold to another friend and he traded it on a new Honda in 1962. I never knew what happened to it after that. CommentsI`ve changed my E-mail address to the above. I am just back from the Mannheim Autojumble - very interesting but very expensive. Whilst in Germany I called on Herr Strohmenger at the Adler Fach Museum in Weilerwist to pick up a crankshaft he had reconditioned for me. I was very impressed both with the workmanship and specification of the reconditioned crankshaft and with the exhibits in his museum. Of particular note are an `air bike` which is an MB250 converted to operate on a high wire, and a new Motocross. There are many other exhibits, and I should think that most models are represented. Anyone visiting Germany should make the attempt to call. Herr Strohmenger does not speak a lot of English, but his wife is available for translation.

CommentsHi Don,
It will surprise you to know that I have an Adler 1954 MB250 (complete) with only 11000 miles on the clock, the original service manual (with all service coupons still in tact) and the original workshop manual which was only issued to dealers. It was purchased new from Folks Round & Murchie’s here in Bundaberg and I am about the third or forth owner.
I am looking forward to restoring it when I have more time and money but at the moment I am researching all areas to compile as much information on the MB250 as I can from technical information to pictures and media articles. So there are still some bikes around that can pop out of the woodwork.
Regards, Vince.

I also had Two Zundapps - 201S and 200S, but in my opinion the Adler was the better bike with powerful smooth acceleration, good roadholding and it was also a marvel of German engineering.
